Marqués de Larios Street

Marqués de Larios street in Malaga is one of the main urban arteries of the city, and in turn, one of the most historic and identity. His works began in 1891, and was previously a set of narrow streets.

Although today it is a wide street with a very well planned urban plot, it still retains some aspects of its past. Marqués de Larios street has an enormous urban and architectural value, as well as great beauty, thanks to its architects Eduardo Strachan and Viana-Cárdenas. On your visit to Malaga, you can not miss a walk through this street while you have a good ice cream.

Design

Larios Street was the first large-scale urban project in Malaga. It occupies a total of 12 blocks that make up streets with houses that are practically identical in size: they have the same width, a ground floor, three floors and the attic, as well as their balconies on the second floor. The buildings are perfectly symmetrical, and have a curved design in the corners, which were designed by the genius Eduardo Strachan inspired by the architectural trends of Chicago. On the other hand, wide streets with curved corners allowed the entry of the breeze from the port to clean the city air at a time when sanitation was somewhat deficient.
