The Alcazaba

The Alcazaba is a fortress from the Muslim era which is located on the Gibralfaro hillside. In its time, it was used as a military building and as a residence for noble families.

Today it is well-preserved and can be visited every day. The La Plaza de Armas (Arms Square), el Patio de los Naranjos (the orange grove garden) and the Puerta de los Arcos (Door of the arches) are some of its most notable features. Will you miss out on them? 

Gibralfaro Castle

The Gibralfaro Castle was built to house the troops that protected the Alcazaba. In 1487, the castle was besieged by the Catholic King and Queen. The Gibralfaro Castle gets its name from a lighthouse that used to sit on the top of the hillside.  Of note, are the incredible views of the whole of Malaga that can be seen from its keep tower. 

Roman Theatre

The Roman Theatre in Malaga was discovered when works were taking place to create some gardens. This ancient Roman theatre dates back to the first century AD. You will find it located next to the Alcazaba, and areas you can visit include the orchestra, the stands and the stage.

Muelle Uno (Quay One)

Muelle Uno is one of the most famous locations of the city, as it has many places and activities for leisure right by the sea. You will find many shops and restaurants there. Due to its volume of shipping traffic, it is also one of the most important quays in Spain.

Picasso Museum

This is one of the most important museums in Spain and the most visited museum in Andalucia. Picasso was born in Malaga at the end of 1881 and he is considered to be one of the best artists of the 20th century. The museum holds a total of 285 of the artist’s works.
